On Wednesday, 12 of October 2022, members of The Association DLAN, accompanied by personal assistants, employees and volunteers, went on a day trip to Dolenjska, which was organised and financed by the Lions Klub Ljubljana.
At the beginning of the trip, we stopped at the Barje Beekeeping Society, where we were given a guided tour and learned many interesting facts about bees and beekeeping. Our next stop was in Muljava, where we visited the Church of St. Mary of the Assumption, where the local priest presented us the sights of the church.
We learned about the church frescoes and had the opportunity to see and touch the golden altar. Then we stopped in Zagradec, where we tasted homemade cake in the bistro of a friendly local woman named Jožica, and learnt about the local power station and the springs of the Krka River, which is located nearby.
In Žužemberk, we had a guided tour of the castle and learned many interesting facts about the castle and its history. We then had a guided tour of the iron-foundry museum and gallery, where we listened to a presentation on iron production and also saw and touched individual products in the gallery. We finished the day with a late lunch, had some refreshments and headed back to Ljubljana.
Sincere thanks to the Lions Klub Ljubljana, which made this wonderful trip possible, and to their representative, Mrs. Dunja Olga Bohorič, who accompanied us and made the experience unforgettable.
