Stanka Žargar, a longtime volunteer in The Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN, is a receiver of the award in the Volunteer of the Year 2019 competition in the age group over 30 years. The competition has been organized by the National Youth Council of Slovenia since 2002 in cooperation with the honorary sponsor, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor.
Mrs. Stanka is a volunteer in The Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN continuously since its establishment in 2005. People with deafblindness are the centre of her efforts for a better world. She is an enthusiastic advocate for their rights, an interpreter, a companion and a teacher. She is breaking new ground in Slovenia as a deaf interpreter for the deafblind. She is indispensable in the work group for the development of ways of communication with people with deafblindness. Mrs. Stanka also helps the deafblind with all the other activities in the day centre and at social rehabilitation camps. Above all, she is their sincere friend and a confidant, who listens to them and understands their distress. At her work she is extremely heartfelt and dedicated, has a warm heart and always an open hand for every deafblind person and thus a great impact on the entire deafblind community.
We sincerely congratulate Mrs. Stanka and are rejoicing with her.
