The second day of the social rehabilitation camp of the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN began with morning exercises that filled us with energy. After breakfast, we divided into three groups and started preparing Kobarid štruklji (rolled dumplings) —each group made its own version: one added raisins, another omitted them, and the third used jam instead of walnuts in the filling. We later enjoyed our culinary creations as dessert after a delicious lunch.
In the afternoon, participants took advantage of the outdoor space for relaxation—some played sports, went for walks, or rested, while a larger group, accompanied by personal assistants and volunteers, set off on a short hike to the Italian border.
Later, we focused on learning the language of the deafblind, with an emphasis on haptic communication. We introduced this unique method of communication to new users and staff. Individuals with deafblindness are preparing the next book on haptic communication, incorporating new words and haptic signs. Special attention was given to preparations for the 20th anniversary celebration of the association, where we began gathering ideas for performances.
We ended the day with pleasant socializing, sharing experiences, and engaging in conversation.
Thank you to everyone who participated.
