The Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN was honored to host Luka Markus and his retired rescue dog, Mici. During her remarkable career, Mici assisted in rescuing people from avalanches, water, and mountains.
Luka gave an engaging presentation on the training of rescue dogs, highlighting the skills and dedication required for this vital work. Following the lecture, we enjoyed a peaceful walk with Mici, allowing us to appreciate her calm demeanor and gentle nature.
This visit was particularly meaningful for individuals with deafblindness, as contact with animals fosters a sense of tranquility and warmth. Mici’s presence created a wonderful atmosphere, and Luka’s stories broadened our understanding of the crucial role rescue dogs play in saving lives.
Thank you, Luka, for this enriching experience.
