Dr. Sanja Tarczay, President of the World Federation of the Deafblind, at the Round Table with representatives of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, at the premises of the Municipality of Ljubljana, on the 25th of November 2022, with the aim to regulate the status and rights of people with deafblindness as soon as possible, emphasised the need to ensure that the inclusion of the language of the deafblind in the Constitution does not remain a dead letter on paper.
She supported the work of the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN, which has been striving for many years to improve the quality of life of people with deafblindness. She expressed her hope that DLAN association’s legislative proposal to regulate the status and rights of people with deafblindness would be adopted. No country could be so poor that it does not provide adequate support for people with deafblindness, she concluded.
