Volunteer Kristina Lampič presented us with the basics of first aid in the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN. She presented the members with the contents of the first aid box, where they could feel different items such as bandages, plasters, sterile gauze and disinfectants.
The emphasis was also on recognizing life-threatening situations, such as bleeding, burns or fractures, and how to act correctly in these cases.
Kristina showed the members in a tangible way basic techniques, such as proper dressing of wounds and care of cuts. We concluded by discussing how they can take simple steps to help themselves or others in an emergency and emphasized the importance of communication and seeking help from loved ones.
The activity was extremely informative, adapted to the needs of the users and enabled practical learning through touch and conversation.
