Between 31 May and 3 June 2022, the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN, as the part of the Erasmus+ project: Learning by touch, hosted experts in the field of deafblindness in Croatia, from the Croatian Association of the Deafblind DODIR (Hrvatski savez gluhoslijepih osoba DODIR), with dr. Sanja Tarczay, who is also the President of the European Deafblind Union (EDbU).
As part of the project, education and training were provided with the aim of acquistion and strengthening of competencies for working with people with deafblindness. In addition to lectures and workshops, we exchanged good work practices, legal or systemic regulation of the field of deafblindness and talked about cooperation in the future. People with deafblindness participated in all phases of the project with their advices, knowledge and experiences, and at the same time enthusiastically presented their lives and creations to the guest lecturers.
In addition to other joint activities with members of the Association DLAN, we also went on a guided tour of Ljubljana Castle. We were led by a long-time volunteer and personal assistant Gašper Rems, who is also a guide for tours of Ljubljana Castle.
We truly thank Dr. Sanja Tarczay and all the other participants for their contribution to education for even better work with the deafblind in the future. We are happy and grateful that you shared your knowledge and experiences with us. Thanks also to everyone else who participated in the project in any way and contributed their share.
