On Tuesday, 6th of August 2019, members of The deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN spent an unforgettable day in the beautiful surroundings of Komenda, where we hung out with the scout leaders of Komenda. Most deafblind people met with scouts for the first time in their lives, and young scouts were also able to meet deafblind people for the first time. We broke the ice with an introductory presentation and a scout greeting: Be ready! ̶ Always ready! The scouts prepared us funny exploring the different ways of coexistence with nature, all attentively adapted to people with deafblindness, in the middle of the forest. With their help, we were swinging high among the tree canopies on the swing, walked along a straight strip above the forest floor, learned about the forest with type, hearing, and smell, lit a campfire, prepared a typical scout lunch and dessert, finally relaxed in hammocks and sang some songs together. Meeting extraordinary people really made us happy, so we decided to repeat it again.
The event took place as part of a major All-Slovenian Youth Volunteer Event ̶ Leaders Camp »MEETING 2019«, which runs from 5th to 11th of August 2019.
