On Tuesday, on 7th of February 2023, at the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN we held the first of nine workshops of the project Palm reads (Dlan bere) which will focus on important Slovenian writers. We presented the life and poems of Dr. France Prešeren, which he wrote at a time when Slovenians did not yet have their own country or an officially recognised Slovene language. We presented various editions of the books, recalled the various symbolic manifestations of the poet’s image and name (1000 tolars, 2-euro coin, Prešeren Award, Prešeren Monument).
To celebrate the national holiday, we recited the Slovenian national anthem Zdravljica together. Finally, we tested our knowledge of the work and life of our greatest poet in a short quiz.
